Roseburg makes “10 Best Places” list for PNW

ROSEBURG, Ore. – We don’t usually like to brag – especially when that means we get to keep this charming piece of paradise more or less to ourselves.
But the secret is out, thanks to WorldAtlas.com – which has unveiled Roseburg as second on its list of “10 Best Places To Call Home In The Pacific Northwest In 2025.”
The list that was announced on Sunday, Sept. 14, contains towns in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Klamath Falls, Grants Pass and The Dalles are other locations in our state that also made the list.
The website’s blurb on Roseburg notes the city’s setting on the South Umpqua River, as well as our Native American heritage, pioneers, geology, natural beauty and thriving wine industry.
Here’s an excerpt:
“The timber industry still shapes Roseburg, but today the town thrives just as much on outdoor adventure and wine country,” reads the entry. “For those who love the outdoors, the Umpqua National Forest is right at your doorstep, leading to waterfalls, hot springs, and endless hiking trails. Wine lovers will want to sip their way through the Umpqua Valley Wine Trail, home to dozens of boutique vineyards that thrive in the fertile valley soils.”
“I am not surprised -- it’s the best-kept secret in our area,” said Mayor Larry Rich. “This is a great place to live. Those who are fortunate enough to live here see the beauty of this place every day.”
