Inspection to close Stewart Park Drive Bridge

ROSEBURG, Ore. – Stewart Park Drive Bridge will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic during maintenance inspection Thursday, Jan. 22.
The Depression-era steel truss bridge will be closed over the South Umpqua River from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while an Oregon Department of Transportation contractor performs a maintenance inspection. The bridge may open earlier if the work is completed sooner than expected, according to the Roseburg Department of Public Works.
The bridge was also inspected before reopening after a recent renovation project. ODOT still requires annual bridge inspections to be performed, in addition to inspections done during the rehabilitation.
The 327-foot bridge, which was built in 1932 to 1933, links Stewart Park to Fir Grove Park and is not to be confused with the nearby Stewart Parkway Bridge.
The City of Roseburg thanks residents for their understanding and patience during the one-day closure.
