Summertime road resurfacing postponed

ROSEBURG, Ore. – Maintenance to extend the life of about 2.6 miles of Roseburg streets has been postponed from late August until September due to weather issues.
The contractor hired to perform slurry seals on streets this month contacted the City on Wednesday, Aug. 13, to postpone the work after rain delays on other, unrelated projects forced them to push back start dates.
Slurry seals in southeastern Roseburg that had been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28, and Friday, Aug. 29, will be postponed until sometime after Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 1, said Roseburg Public Works Director Ryan Herinckx.
Road maintenance is always weather-dependent. New dates have not been determined yet.
Slurry seals combine a thin layer of gravel or “aggregate” with an asphalt emulsifier, and that is applied to a paved surface to help preserve and protect the underlying pavement structure, and provide a new driving surface.
The City appreciates the public’s understanding and patience. For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 541-492-6730 or pwd@roseburgor.gov.
