ROSEBURG, Ore. – Residents interested in recycling and waste prevention will discover a new, interactive resource has debuted on the City’s website.

The City of Roseburg – teaming up with information technology contractor Systech – launched eight new webpages that feature updated and expanded recycling and waste prevention information, fun graphics and links to more information and resources.

The new digital offerings replace one webpage that contained basic recycling information.

“Our objective in updating our recycling page is to help educate the community about recycling opportunities and how to prevent waste,” said Roseburg Community Development Department Director Stuart Cowie.

The pages can be found via the City’s website at cityofroseburg.org and its “How do I…?” drop-down menu item reading, “Recycle/Waste Prevention.”

On the new webpages, residents can learn the top five reasons to recycle and prevent waste – starting with: “You love our planet!”

You’ll also find more detailed information and resources for preventing waste and recycling.

Learn how to reduce waste and reuse, repurpose or repair some common household goods. Plus, check out more than 20 inspiring ideas for repurposing what you already have – from creating a garden border using inverted wine bottles or using an old glass bottle as a liquid soap dispenser to making a rope rug from your old climbing rope.

Are you confused about recycling? Learn where, what and how to recycle on these new pages!

In the near future, more information will be added to help local business offices use green or ecofriendly practices. And homeowners and restaurant owners will be able to find ideas to help prevent food waste and save money.

“We hope people can use these tips and links provided on the website as they recycle in the future and look to keep our community a beautiful place,” Cowie said.
