Roseburg Public Library offers outdoor crafts for kids and teens
Roseburg Public Library invites children, teens and families to attend hands-on, outdoor craft programs on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout August. All supplies will be provided for the programs, which are made possible through the K-12 Summer Learning Fund of Oregon Community Foundation.
Roseburg earns 28th Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting
The City of Roseburg was notified Wednesday, July 28, that the City has earned its 28th Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the City’s 2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, or what is commonly referred to as the annual audit.
Roseburg Senior Center Answers Call for Cooling Center
Following a request from City Manager Nikki Messenger, Roseburg Senior Center officials announced Thursday, July 29, they will open the building at 1614 S.E. Stephens St. as a cooling center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday during an expected heat wave.
Masks required at all City buildings
Roseburg City officials are asking residents to limit City Hall visits and wear masks inside City buildings after the Oregon Health Authority began recommending universal mask use for all public indoor settings this week. “This is not the news that we want to hear, but as an organization, we have committed to following the guidance from the beginning, and we plan to continue,” City Manager Nikki Messenger said.
Evening/overnight road striping begins Sunday
Roseburg Public Works’ street crews will perform evening/overnight road striping work starting Sunday, August 1. Paint striping operations will continue throughout the month of August. The work has been scheduled Sundays through Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. to reduce impact on traffic.
Mayor issues apology for comments
Mayor Larry Rich issues an apology on behalf of the City Council for pre-meeting comments made between city councilors June 28.
Library Commission seeks applicants
The City of Roseburg is accepting applications from people interested in serving on the City Council’s Library Commission. Applicants must live within Roseburg city limits or within the city’s Urban Growth Boundary. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, August 13.
City Manager disbands homeless committee
City Manager Nikki Messenger is disbanding the City Manager Homeless Immediate Needs Ad Hoc Committee, effective Friday, July 23.
Street maintenance starts next week
Maintenance to extend the life of more than 2.5 miles of Roseburg streets is set to begin next week, weather permitting. The Roseburg Public Works Department asks vehicle owners to be sure to remove their vehicles from street sections scheduled and posted for maintenance to allow crews to complete the work.
